Providing a service of equine assisted activities to children and adults with special needs.
Who We Are?
We are a family run business, set up and run by Tina Binions, qualified therapeutic riding coach. Tina has 8 years experience volunteering with the riding for the disabled, facilitating children with severe physical, mental, emotional and intellectual disabilites. In Healing hands, Tina was inspired to open the centre due to the high demand from parents of children on the autistic spectrum. We are currently being flooded with queries from parents with children, teenagers and young adults across the spectrum. The results are nothing short of magical. Please visit our testimonials page, where you can read about our current clients and their experiences so far.
What We Do?
We offer therapeutic riding for those with special needs. This involves using specially trained horses to carry out specific activities and tasks that over time help to improve their physical, emotional, and social skills. We also offer regular riding lessons from age 3 up which means that siblings can also take part in riding lessons!
Example:
For example, people with autism benefit greatly because of the various emotional and sensory sensations that come from riding and caring for a horse. When
they brush, hug, and pat the horses, they learn to associate emotions with the care they are providing. We also know that autistic children often have difficulty comprehending
normal directions. With us, the child follows directions through fun activities which makes it easier to grasp and remember. And because they also have to give the
horse direction, it provides more opportunities to communicate.
Where Are We Situated
We are situated in a picturesque part of Wicklow county, only 5 mins from Wicklow town, just 5 mins from the N11 heading Southbound. Only 35 mins from Dublin. We are surrounded by 120 acres of lush green peaceful undisturbed pastures where we can walk around and trek in the river.
