Join us for the First Annual Space City Paddlefest hosted by Team Hokulele, the most active and dynamic paddling club in the state. Since Hokulele members paddle multiple craft and participate in multiple paddling disciplines, this race highlights the soul and mission of the club. The club is staging four races for different paddle craft and skill levels. All of these events will be staged from the accommodating and user-friendly grounds of Clear Lake Park in Seabrook, TX on the shores of Mud Lake. For those novice and recreational paddlers, there will be a 5K course (2 laps of 2.5K) held on Mud Lake. This event will be for all types of craft, SUP, OC-1, SurfSki, C1, C2, and sea kayak. For the marathon canoe paddlers, there will be a 13 mile race that starts and finishes on Mud Lake and winds its way out and back through the beautiful and remote (for Houston) Armand Bayou watershed. For the SUP paddlers, there will be a 10K course that starts and finishes on Mud Lake with 75% of the race taking place on the ever changing waters of Clear Lake. For the Ocean Canoe and Kayak paddlers, there will be an 8 mile race starting and finishing on Mud Lake. Too, this course will run primarily on Clear Lake and depending on the wind conditions and boat traffic on the day could be a flat water slog or a challenging, bumpy workout.
Since Hokulele's roots are in the aloha of outrigger canoe paddling, participants will be extended the hospitality of the sport. The races will be supported with safety escort. All participants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and top finishers in designated divisions will receive custom designed medals.
Clear Lake Park is a great venue to host such a paddling festival. It offers ample parking, restrooms, playground equipment for the keikis (little ones), ball fields, ample area to spread out a blanket and lawn chairs to make for an enjoyable day on/ around the water and at the park! Join us for what will be a memorable day!!

In addition to the races, Waterman Joe Cerdas of Ocean Tribe will be hosting a complimentary SUP Clinic. This is another way he is giving back to the sport and community that have supported him throughout the years.
Joe is a Full Time Supervisor with the Galveston Island Beach Patrol where he has worked for the past 11 years. He is also a Peace Officer and EMT Basic, CPR/AED Instructor, Swift Water Technician, Jet Ski Rescue Instructor and Marine Safety Enforcement Officer.
He started Stand Up Paddling at 16 years old but got into SUP racing on 2010. He is undefeated (26-0) in the state of Texas and has competed in different states around the country and internationally. He was selected to compete in the ISA World StandUp Paddle & Paddleboard Championship with Team Costa Rica in Sayulita, Mexico 2015.
His goals are to continue to grow as a waterman and promote the sport by teaching and training other people while bringing the younger paddlers into the sport.
Please sign up for the complimentary clinic as part of your registration on Paddle Guru.
